It was found dead under a fallen tree at the age of 13. Although this event has been ongoing for the past 10,000 years or so—since the last ice age, to be exact—the mass extinction has been accelerating at a dizzying pace. According to the mother nature network , there used to be thousands of these little creatures roaming across france and spain, but their numbers dropped drastically.

Scientists studying the lost city deep in the rainforests of honduras have come across creatures thought to be extinct. They were a vital food source for the amerindians for many years. This might yeild the dna needed to bring them back. During surveys in 2012 and 2013, researchers only found three individuals.
