Cell Membrane Is Made Up Of Molecules. A membrane is made up of phospholipid molecules and rests on the outside of animal cellsit is the outer layer of a cell that holds the entire cell intact. A phospholipid molecule consists of a glycerol molecule, combined with one phosphate group and two fatty acid molecules.
This is accomplished by the embedding of various protein molecules in and through the lipid bilayer (see figure below). The proteins are found around the holes and help move molecules in and out of the cell. A double layer of phospholipids (phospholipid bilayer).
