Frogs swallow their food whole. Their skin is moist, smooth or rough. Many young amphibians also have feathery gills to extract oxygen from water, but later lose these and develop lungs.

To breathe through their skin, the skin must stay moist/wet.

Some exceptions to this are boas and pythons who give live birth to their young. , amphibians lay eggs and do not care for the young. The adults usually live on land, however some may live on land as well as in water. Most amphibians will eat almost any live food that they can manage to catch and swallow.
